Opening onto the beach at beautiful Banderas Bay in Nuevo Vallarta, the hotel is devoted to luxury and features plush, roomy suites with spectacular Pacific views from private terraces.
The resort's 267 spacious 1- and 2-bedroom suites are the last word in opulence, furnished in teak woods from Bali and each featuring a private terrace with ocean views, goose down comforters and pillows, mini-bar, laptop-size safety box, flat-screen digital cable TV, DVD/CD/MP3 player, and high-speed wireless Internet access.
Executive chef Jose Mejia directs an innovative take on traditional international cuisine, and oversees all the resort's dining venues. The open-air, thatch-roofed Azul is distinguished by a casual atmosphere, and serves 5 different international cuisines for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Frida -- named for artist Frida Kahlo -- is known for fine French-Mexican evening dining. Lucca also opens in the evening and specializes in Mediterranean-Italian cuisine in an elegant setting. The newest restaurants are Piaff, a strictly adult-only fancy French venue, and the Sea Grill, open 7:00am to 7:00pm and located poolside.
The spa is a haven of wellness and beauty, featuring a high-performance fitness center, hydrotherapy facilities, and an aerobic exercise room, plus indoor and outdoor treatment rooms. A multi-level infinity pool features a swim-up bar and cushioned lounge chairs, and a 25-person infinity Jacuzzi overlooks beach. The Grand Kids Activities Program keeps youngsters happy, and the water sports center provides snorkeling, windsurfing, and wave boarding gear. Entertainment continues into the night with 3 shows per week in the outdoor theater.
