Luxury, hacienda-style resort on the southernmost beach of the Baja Peninsula – Set where the Pacific Ocean merges with the Sea of Cortez, surrounded by sweeping views of desert, mountains, and the coast, this 250-acre property is rated one of the best resorts in the world by both Conde Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure. The charming architecture features white-washed walls, red-tile roofs, and fountains, recalling a sense of Old World Mexico.

Opened in 1956 by the son of Mexico’s then-president, this was once a hideaway exclusively reserved for society’s rich and famous, with guests that included Dwight Eisenhower, John Wayne, and Lucille Ball. Its appeal remains intact, with such recent highlights as John Travolta's 50th birthday party.

Accommodations: Accommodations are housed in 1- and 2-story, oceanfront and beachfront haciendas. Amenities include fine bed and bath linens, flat-screen TVs, DVD players, Bose surround sound, phone and data lines, complimentary high-speed internet, terrace day beds, telescopes for whale watching, pillow selection menus, marble baths with deluxe bath amenities, and 24-hour butler service. Junior suites have separate living areas, and baths that include rain showers with inlaid stone and sculpted tubs. More spacious, with upgraded amenities, are the 1-bedroom and deluxe 1-bedroom suites.

Dining & Entertainment: C is the resort’s signature restaurant, where the menu is highlighted by the culinary talent of Charlie Trotter, renowned chef, author, and philanthropist. Agua serves “Mexiterranean” cuisine in an indoor setting and in the fountain courtyard. Both restaurants have bars/lounges with different but equally elegant ambience, perfect for afternoon and pre-dinner cocktails. Overlooking the vista pool and the Pacific Ocean beyond, Breeze is an alfresco venue serving drinks and light fare.

Recreation: The beachfront includes the only swimmable, calm stretch of sand in Los Cabos. The clean, blue waters offer visibility up to 120 feet, making them ideal for scuba diving and snorkeling. Other diversions include horseback riding, tennis on 2 floodlit courts, and walking and jogging trails. There are 2 infinity-edge pools, a swim-up bar, and a meandering children’s pool. A remarkable Jack Nicklaus golf course is comprised of 27-holes divided among 3 separate settings – desert, coast, and mountains. Excursions into the rugged Baja Mountains, aerial sightseeing, and whale-watching tours provide off-site adventures. The spa has indoor/outdoor treatments and massages, a yoga garden, whirlpool, and a fully equipped fitness center.
