A visit here is a truly memorable experience for even the most discerning guest.

Accommodations: Stay in either the 7-story original building or the more contemporary tower. All rooms and suites have a king-size bed or up to 2 queen-size beds, air-conditioning, a TV with movie services, a mini-bar, a safe, and a marble bath. Most of the rooms have a sitting area and a large desk; the suites have a bedroom and a living room. Other, larger suites are meant for guests entertaining big groups of people. You have a view of the city skyline, the bay, or the interior courtyard. TIP: The view from the top floors of the tower rivals the best in town.

Dining & Entertainment: For elegance in dining, the Laurel Court restaurant is in a Regency-style room graced with artistic murals. It uses fresh local ingredients to fashion authentic Northern California dishes and serves rare wines from area boutique wineries. Add a dash of fun to your meal at the Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar, serving exotic Asian cuisine and reportedly the city's best Mai Tai. Enhancing its tropical rainforest setting are thunder and lightning effects as well as periodic "rainfalls." Check out the appetizer buffets at Happy Hour, and kick up your heels on the wooden dance floor while a live band performs on a floating island in a pool.

Recreation: The Club One at Nob Hill Health Club has cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, such as stair climbers, stationary bicycles, and treadmills. Sign up for aerobics, Pilates, spinning, and stretching classes. Treat yourself to luxury at the spa, with massages and skin treatments. Explore the city, an embarrassment of riches for visitors: Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, Haight-Ashbury, Coit Tower, Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square, and much more.
